Anotacija

A nice decoration of Ignalina town is Paplovinis lake which is in the northern part of the town. In summer a fountain of 11 m hight squirts in it. A bridge over the lake joins Ignalina town with a track in a forest which is a favourite place of local people and visitors to walk along enjoying the fresh air of pinery and a wonderful view of the lake. On a bank of the southern part of the lake there is a 5 m high oaken sculpture symbolizing the legend of Ignalina town and its name. A short text of the legend is carved on the back side (the love story of Ignas and Lina). The author of this sculpure (made in 1993) is sculptor Gintaras Cernius.
